Immediately after signing up, you’ll be guided through onboarding, where you can set your usage environment to receive more personalized translations.
You’ll be asked two personalized questions, and your selected answers will automatically apply optimized keywords for translation. The configured usage environment (field and purpose) will be applied to all chat rooms by default.
Select “Field”
Selecting a usage “field” for the Chat Translation enables industry-specific terms and jargon to be reflected in translations.
Available fields include tourism, education, medical, retail, food & beverage, gaming, and others. If you’re using the service for non-business purposes, please select “Personal User.”
Select “Purpose”
You can choose your purpose for using Chat Translation and select a “job role” related to the “field” you selected. Frequently used language and expressions for that job role will be reflected in translations.
When “Personal User” is selected as your “field,” available purposes include [travel, everyday conversation, language learning, interview/test preparation, and news/video viewing].
If you want to change your selected “field,” click the “Back (←)” button in your web browser or the Back button at the bottom of the mobile screen. Depending on your device, you can swipe from the left edge to the right to return to the previous screen.
Modifying Your Usage Environment (“Field” & “Purpose”)
You can modify your usage environment at any time from the “Custom Assistant” menu. Customized translations will only apply to conversations created after the changes are made.
We plan to continue improving usage environment fields and categories, with reset options and related features to be released in the near future.
Notes
The types and categories of usage environments will be improved gradually. Features like initialization are also planned for release soon, so please keep this in mind.
